NICOYS is the acronym for "Nigerian Community of Young Scientists".
NICOYS is a permanent global network of Nigerian youth scientists and scientific associations and friends of Nigeria who share the Nigeria dream.
NICOYS is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to scientific advancement of Nigeria through the dissemination of science related information and the appropriate guidance of younger generation of scientists and the maximal utilization of the potential inherent in them.
NICOYS strives to bring science information to the fingertips of all Nigerian and encourages and facilitates interaction between and within generations of Nigerian scientists wherever they reside on the globe.
NICOYS is recognized and supported by the Nigerian Academy of Science.
Membership of NICOYS is opened to all Nigerians and non-Nigerian with an interest in science. Membership is free for student member while other members pays due. Only members have full access to the resources section of this website.

Our goals

• To make science information with emphasis on Nigeria readily available to Nigerians wherever they reside
• To continually stimulate the interest of Nigerian youth in science and science careers
• To promote and reward excellence in science among Nigerian youth
• To create a platform for the Nigerian youth scientists to participate in science and technology policies and decisions making at national and international levels
• To bridge the generational, spatial and digital division between Nigerian scientists
• To maintain an updated database of Nigerian scientists across all fields and age groups
• To turn the brain drain in our society to brain gain

Our objectives

• To maintain an online portal devoted to sending science information to all members of NICOYS and other members of the global society
• To regularly publish and distribute a newsletter
• To organize conferences and courses in science and science policy
• To represent the Nigerian youth scientists at national and international meetings on issues that affect them
• To establish prizes to reward excellence among the young Nigerian scientists
• To cooperate with government and civil organs on scientific matters
• To create a database of all Nigerian scientists
• To create and maintain infrastructure necessary for the achievement of NICOYS goals
• To seek and provide resources to support the activities of members in accordance with the goals of NICOYS
• To create a mentorship system that will ensure appropriate linkage and transition between generations of Nigerian scientists
• To celebrate science and scientists in Nigeria
